In our postmodern world, we are frequently tested about many topics. The style of thinking not only moves beyond rational truths, but blends interpretation and treats this as normality.
If you saw something that you can't confirm if it's true or not, but allow intepretation and other factors to get in the way, to ultimately shape the "truth" - do you allow it to happen? "For the greater good"?
This time, I think it's different. Before, we played poker with hidden hands. Now we are playing them open, because we know distinctly how people have behaved (and a leopard never changes its spots...)
Many people with this postmodern style of thinking no longer think that their true beliefs matter - it's what they say out in the open, for they do not wish to be castigated.
Secondly - emotions and self preservation are also ranked higher than the truth. Anything that causes discomfort or self reckoning is easily swept under the rug now.
Anyway, I'm just ranting. Surely just crazy talk.
