Making sense of it all

April 29, 2026

I'm not talking about this from the angle of being ignorant.

However, just think about this:

We are learning machines We try to make sense of it all

However, when the information we are given only tell part of the story, or starts being contradictory with other pieces, what do we rely on?

Here's where I ask the question - are we truly trying to understand things, or are we just seeking information to confirm our inherent biases? Choosing comfort over reality?

Our brains have different modes - and we are fully capable of processing new information when we receive it. It's our response to it that defines who we are.

Do we immediately accept everything as fact? Do we reject everything that goes against our existing worldviews? Do we react angrily as things cannot be true?

However, there is more than just the element of receiving information.

Consider this - how well can we withhold judgement before we've established the facts? In fact, how do we know that we've established the facts? Do we say something is a fact simply because a book states so, or is it more that we personally believe/trust that something is the objective truth (and we've resolve all corroborating information)

So in this day and age, with all the complexity around, perhaps we should be questioning ourselves.

What it comes down to is our comfort with uncertainty - are we happy to leave things "unresolved", "unknown"?

If we are, then it doesn't really matter what particular "facts" are, especially if they do not interfere or affect our day to day lives.

Then it's a matter for us to mentally resolve, what matters and what doesn't.

So consider this, unless you've witnessed something with your own eyes, you've seen something first hand etc.

You might not know 100% of what the objective truth is, nor does it matter that much.

Therefore, take a step back and stop worrying about things we don't understand or don't comprehend, because they are most likely distractions.

We have enough on our own plates to deal with, and perhaps those are the things we should be focused on.

Every waking moment, there are things in our immediate space to put our energies towards, to provide love and care. It is our choice to use that energy wisely.
